Embracing technology

I love new technologies, and even if I am not amongst the first to get the precious good that just came out, I know what is breaking through and I’ll end up getting it with the early adopters (see Rogers’ curve about the diffusion of innovation). I recently bought a new camera that is matching with our connected environment. I was really astonished when the first model was out and felt the urge of getting it but well, it was worth the wait to get the last one as there are some additional features that will be great to apply. It is a mirrorless camera but with a professional quality – have a look at the reviews if you are still wondering. To make it even better, it is awifi-enabled camera so you can share your shots with another device. Other gadgets that I can’t wait to try are: touch and moving screen, apps to change modes and so on..

Note: I won’t do any reviews of it as I am not experienced enough to talk about it but there are plenty on the web really helpful (written or video version). A perfect tool for trips!

Je suis fan des nouvelles technologies et même si je ne fais pas partie des premiers acheteurs d’un nouveau produit je finisgénéralement par l’adopter avec les « early adopters » (voir la courbe de Rogers). Ainsi j’ai récemment fait l’acquisition d’un appareil photo qui est en parfaite adéquation avec notre monde hyper connecté. Quand le premier modèle est sorti, j’étais impressionnée par ce bijou qui a été amélioré . Il s’agit d’ un appareil hybride avec un boitier de compact et une qualité de reflex qui fait des photos au rendu professionnel. Diverses fonctionnalités sont présentes et parmi celles-ci : le wifi intégré pour partager les photos, un écran pivotable et tactile, des modes de prise de vue spécifique.. L'appareil idéal pour les voyages!

Note : je n’ai pas encore assez d’expérience pour en parler plus amplement mais les critiques sur internet (écrites ou vidéos) pourront vous éclairer.

Successful expat integration

As an expatriate, I want to be part of the local community where I am settled. While experiencing the world, you become aware of a treasure: the richness of being open between individuals. Being able to interact with people from various origins and cultures allows you to learn more about others and yourself. Yet, in order to overcome cultural barriers, you have to know how to deal with differences and minimise the culture shock. I explained some things to get done before leaving but once in the new country you need to observe and analyse. It would be unrealistic to say you can have the same behaviour everywhere. To understand the environment, shared norms and values is crucial. Be sure to follow these steps: Preparation, Organisation, Communication, Knowledge, Exchange and Trust.

En tant qu’expatriée je cherche à m’intégrer dans la communauté au sein de laquelle je vis. En voyageant, on prend pleinement conscience de la valeur des échanges entre personnes. Pouvoir partager avec des gens qui viennent d’autres horizons permet d’apprendre à les connaitre mais aussi à se connaitre soi même. Surmonter les barrières culturelles notamment en acceptant les différences et en essayant de minimiser le choc culturel c’est un sujet que j’ai déjà abordé dans un article sur les démarches à suivre avant le départ. Pour une expatriation réussie, il faut observer et analyser, ce qui vous permettra d’adapter votre comportement.. Pour comprendre l’environnement, les valeurs et traditions il suffit de suivre ces étapes : Préparation, Organisation, Communication, Savoir, Echange et Confiance.
